Forms of writing Letter A letter is a written message that can be hand written or printed on paper. It is usually sent to the recipient via email or post in an envelope,although this is not a requirement as such. Such a message that is transferred via post is a letter,a written conversation between two parties. Types of letters Let us first understand that there are broadly two types of letters; Formal and informal letters Fomal letters: These letters follow a certain pattern and formality. They are strictly kept professional in nature and directly address the issues concerned. Any type of business letter falls in this category. Informal letter: These are personal letters. They need not follow any set pattern or adhere to any formalities. They contain personal information or are a written conversation. They are generally written to friends,acquaintances,relatives,etc. There are other types of letters namely; Business letter, circular letter,social letter,official letter EMAIL: An e-mail is a method of composing,storing,sending and receiving messages over electronic communication system. Email stands for electronic mail. It is the most preferred means of communication because it is faster and cheaper. An email can be categorized into two parts namely; 1.)Formal 2.)informal A formal email can be written to companies, government departments,offices,school principal or teacher An informal mail can be written to family,relatives and friends Format of an Email 1.) Reume: A resume is a short document used to summarize a job seeker's experience and qualification for the prospective employer. A resume includes the job seeker's contact information,work experience,education and relevant skills in support of a job application. Biography: A biography is a form of nonfiction,expository writing that focuses on the life of an individual person. They cover major events of the individual's life Diary: A diary is a private place where you can keep your thoughts,feelings and opinions on everything from work to school and everywhere in between. Report: Essentially, a report is a short,concise,sharp document which is written for a particular purpose and audience. It generally sets out and analyses a situation or problem often making recommendations for future action Review: A review is an evaluation of a publication,service,or company such as a movie,video game,book, etc.
